About Mike Rogers
Intro
I am Mike Rogers (@Rogem002), founder of Full On Design. Full On Design is my blog, where I show off things I think are worth sharing and occasionally rant about things I think should be much better.
Education
I am currently studying BSc (Hons) Web Technologies at the University of Portsmouth (On target for a 2.1). I also have 3 A-Levels and 11 GCSE’s.
Programming History
I’ve been coding for a while now (I started around 2000) and through the years I’ve learnt a handful of languages (Some were fun, some not so much).
The first language I started with was HTML, which back in 2002 was the bees knees. It’s hard to imagion how different my life might have been if I hadn’t decided to play around on publisher, then frontpage and finally opening my first website on GeoCities.
Naturally HTML on it’s own made some very dull websites and soon I decided to learn JavaScript, which as a first “Real” programming language was annoying. It didn’t help not having the joys of FireFox’s error console or FireBug.
In 2004 database driven websites started taking up space in my favourites bar, I was really interested in what language these websites were made with. My investigation end with me looking at a forum with two potential options, ASP or PHP. Both had there downsides and upsides, but in the end I went for PHP because it seemed to have a larger following (and to my mind, more people who might be able to help).
Over the next few years CSS based designs started taking off, which initially I thought might just be a fad but eventually I found that CSS was a much faster way to build websites.
In late 2009 I started taking an interest in mobile app development and I am currently learning the inns and outs of Windows Mobile and Android application development.
